Complex Fraud Lead

About the role

The Complex Fraud Lead heads a high‑performing team of investigators responsible for tackling sophisticated fraud and scam incidents that affect ANZ customers and the bank itself. This senior position combines operational leadership, stakeholder management, and close collaboration with state and federal law‑enforcement agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations of the Complex Fraud team.
• Drive engagement, performance, and capability development across the team.
• Provide coaching and guidance on complex fraud and scam investigations.
• Oversee support to Inbound Fraud and Identity Fraud leadership.
• Direct investigations of significant fraud and scam events to prevent, mitigate, and recover financial losses.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline case handling and enhance recovery rates.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing large, multi‑disciplined teams.
• Deep understanding of fraud, financial crime, and customer resolution practices.
• Experience applying regulatory and legal frameworks.
• Track record handling complex, high‑risk or sensitive cases.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and internal influence skills.
• Ability to identify control gaps and drive operational, technological, or policy change.
• Data‑driven mindset with continuous improvement focus.
