Community Aged Care Companion Volunteer - Somersby

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity that supports people to stay in their homes, is looking for a local volunteer to visit an elderly female client in Somersby. The client values meaningful connection, calm conversation and shared time in peaceful settings, and enjoys gentle outings and relaxed activities centred on nature, reading, animals and quiet moments. Visits are weekly or fortnightly, one-on-one and focused on presence and companionship.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client's home in Somersby for friendly companionship and conversation
• Take gentle walks around the property, garden or nearby nature areas
• Visit local nurseries, quiet parks or botanical spaces
• Talk about or observe plants, animals and the natural world
• Read together, share books or discuss stories
• Enjoy a relaxed coffee at a local café
• Go for scenic drives, including coastal or bushland views

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older
• Enjoys slowing down, appreciates nature and gentle conversation, and values a calm, supportive connection
• Willingness to commit to one-hour visits for 6 months or longer, between Monday and Sunday, 9am to 5pm
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare
