Communications and Sector Engagement Officer

About the role

The Communications and Sector Engagement Officer supports ACTCOSS’s communications, member engagement, events and training activities. You will prepare and distribute content across newsletters, email, website and social media, and help promote policy, advocacy and sector initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, edit and distribute newsletters, member communications and promotional materials.
• Draft and schedule social media content; create graphics and short videos using Canva or similar tools.
• Maintain website content and ensure information is accurate and accessible.
• Coordinate planning and delivery of training workshops, forums, meetings and sector events, managing logistics and speaker liaison.
• Support member and stakeholder engagement through meetings, enquiries and database maintenance.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to produce clear, engaging content.
• Experience coordinating events, meetings or training activities.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Canva (or similar design tool) for creating professional communications materials.
• Digital communication tools such as email marketing platforms, website CMS, CRM systems and social media platforms.
