Communications Advisor

About the role

Join the Public Affairs team at Glen Eira Council as a Communications Advisor and help shape how the organisation connects with its community. You will act as a trusted communications partner, providing strategic advice, developing plans and creating content that supports Council priorities and enhances the Council’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver communication plans that align with organisational priorities, projects and business initiatives.
• Partner with business units across Council to provide strategic communications advice and support.
• Create engaging content for digital, social media, print and internal communication channels.
• Manage media relations, identify positive story opportunities and monitor emerging issues and trends.
• Coordinate communication campaigns, publications and multimedia content, ensuring compliance with brand, accessibility and quality standards.

Required profile

• Confident and adaptable communications professional with excellent writing skills.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and capable of managing multiple priorities while delivering high‑quality outcomes.
• Ability to provide sound communications advice that considers organisational priorities, stakeholder needs and reputational impacts.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.

What we offer

• Band 6 salary range $100,000 – $109,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
