Communication Manager – Strategic & Operational Lead

About the role

The Communication Manager provides strategic and operational communication advice across a wide range of departmental initiatives. Leading a team of communication professionals, the role shapes integrated campaigns and supports the department’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a client‑focused communications team.
• Design and implement integrated communication strategies and campaigns for portfolios such as families, seniors, disability services, child safety, community services, and domestic, family and sexual violence.
• Produce print and digital materials, including graphic design, publications, and online content.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to align communication activities with strategic objectives.
• Identify opportunities for service improvement and deliver creative marketing communication solutions.
• Participate in the Strategic Communication and Media Branch Leadership Team and execute media‑related tasks as directed.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a public‑sector communications leader (highly desirable).
• Relevant tertiary qualification in communication, marketing or public relations (highly desirable).
• Ability to work outside standard business hours when required.
