Commis Chef – Reefworld Pontoon (Great Barrier Reef)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join the Reefworld team aboard Cruise Whitsundays’ flagship pontoon, located on the Great Barrier Reef. This entry‑level position offers the chance to work in a unique offshore hospitality environment while supporting breakfast, lunch and dinner services under the guidance of senior chefs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present all components of the daily breakfast service to company standards.
• Assist with lunch service preparation and support the dinner service setup.
• Carry out routine kitchen duties such as cleaning, stock rotation and basic food preparation.
• Follow health, safety and food‑handling procedures at all times.
• Support the Reefworld chefs with any additional operational tasks as directed.

Required profile

• Passion for culinary work and a desire to develop cooking skills in a hospitality setting.
• Ability to work on a swing roster of 8 days on‑site followed by 6 days off.
• Willingness to live and work aboard the Reefworld pontoon for the duration of the role.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.
