Colour and Material Designer

About the role

The Colour and Material Designer will lead the creation of innovative Colour, Material and Finish (CMF) solutions for both advanced concepts and production vehicles. Reporting to the CMF Design Manager, the role is based in the Broadmeadows Design Studio and operates on a hybrid schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Create compelling CMF design visions and sensory‑rich palettes for a range of vehicle projects.
• Apply Human‑Centered Design principles to ensure colours, materials and finishes enhance user comfort, interaction and perceived quality.
• Collaborate with exterior, interior and UX/UI teams to integrate CMF strategies into a cohesive vehicle design.
• Develop forward‑looking brand CMF identities that anticipate future trends.
• Lead problem‑solving initiatives related to connectivity, sustainable materials and regional consumer preferences.
• Produce realistic visualisations and documentation to move designs from concept to production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant design field or equivalent experience.
• 3‑5 years of global automotive or transportation CMF design experience.
• Strong design intuition, visual communication ability and independent judgment.
• Passion for automotive trends, innovation and cross‑functional collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Photoshop.
• Experience with VRED.
• Ability to create presentations in PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D digital design media.
