Cloud DevOps Engineer – AWS

About the role

Westpac is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join its Enterprise and Computer Storage Services team. You will design, build, and operate scalable AWS platforms, with a focus on Amazon EKS, automation, security, and cost‑efficient delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage AWS infrastructure, including EKS‑based container platforms, ensuring scalability and high performance.
• Develop and maintain Terraform‑based Infrastructure as Code and automate deployment workflows.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for applications and infrastructure.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and SRE practices to enhance reliability and incident response.
• Apply cloud security best practices, ensure compliance, and optimise cost and performance.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with core AWS services (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
• Mandatory experience with Amazon EKS and solid Kubernetes fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Terraform for IaC and automation.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of containerisation (Docker, micro‑services) and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Understanding of cloud security (IAM, RBAC, secrets management, network security) and cost optimisation.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) and experience in regulated or ITIL‑aligned environments.
