Clinical Nurse Educator - Neurology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pain Management & Emergency

About the role

Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH), a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Educator for its POD2 Unit in the operating theatres. The role is permanent and full time, 38 hours per week, with remuneration of $124,273 to $128,301 per year plus superannuation. The educator supports and develops staff clinically, acts as a preceptor and mentor, and builds a culture of safe, evidence-based care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support and clinical development and training to staff
• Foster a preceptor/mentor role
• Formulate, coordinate and evaluate unit-based educational programs
• Assess and demonstrate clinical procedures
• Build individual capacity to deliver safe, evidence-based care using reflective practice
• Support a patient and family focused culture and help staff manage change

Required profile

• Australian work rights
• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• Relevant post-registration experience in the specialty
• Relevant clinical or education post-registration qualifications, or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the employer
• Demonstrated understanding of teaching methodologies, including planning, conducting and evaluating unit-based education
• Experience in neurosurgery, ENT or ophthalmology is desirable; previous CNE experience is desirable
