Clinical Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention & Control

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC2) in Infection Prevention and Control provides expert nursing services to support patient safety across the Northern NSW Local Health District. Working closely with nurses, midwives, and medical officers, the CNC2 leads the implementation of infection control programs at hospital sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical expertise in infection prevention and control.
• Coordinate and lead the district‑wide Infection Prevention and Control program.
• Develop and maintain relationships with health‑care staff and external stakeholders.
• Offer consultancy, education, and leadership to improve patient outcomes.
• Monitor compliance with infection control policies and report findings.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NSW registration.
• Significant experience in infection prevention and control.
• Demonstrated leadership and consultancy abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple health‑care sites.
