Cleansing Crew Operator

About the role

Join the City of Sydney’s Cleansing Crew and keep the city’s footpaths, roadways, plazas and public precincts clean and vibrant. This full‑time permanent position offers day, afternoon or night shifts with a 9‑day fortnight roster.

Key responsibilities

• Clean footpaths, roadways, plazas and public precincts using manual methods, pressure washing and mechanical sweepers.
• Service and empty street litter bins and remove bulk waste, including illegal dumping.
• Operate a range of plant equipment such as street sweepers, waste compactors and refuse removal trucks.
• Adapt to changing priorities and undertake additional tasks as directed.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual cleaning tasks.
• Hold a current Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Vehicle (HR) driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• Available to work weekdays, some weekends and public holidays.
• Demonstrated ability to operate street cleaning and waste removal equipment.

Required skills

• Operation of street sweepers.
• Operation of waste compactors.
• Medium Rigid or Heavy Vehicle licence.
