Classroom Teacher – Start 2027

About the role

St Peter's is looking for a passionate, energetic and motivated classroom teacher to join its learning community at the start of 2027. The school describes itself as having a strong collegial and collaborative culture, valuing staff wellbeing and partnership with parents. Ongoing employment may be possible if a suitable permanent position becomes available.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education
• Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
• Accreditation to teach in a Catholic school, or working towards it
• Experience working with children
• Demonstrated understanding of the 11 Child Safety Standards and of the legal obligations relating to child safety, including mandatory reporting
• Suitable person to engage in child-connected work
• Demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school, the Church's teachings and the Catholic teacher's role, and the capacity to integrate those teachings into the curriculum

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum standards and the MACS Vision for Instruction, using explicit instruction, modelling, guided practice and regular checks for understanding
• Assess student progress, give constructive feedback and report on achievement to students and parents
• Create an inclusive, respectful and safe classroom, managing behaviour and supporting diverse learning needs
• Engage professionally with colleagues, parents and the wider community
• Seek professional development and reflect regularly on teaching practice
