Civil Works Manager

About the role

As a Civil Works Manager at Downer, you will lead the delivery of asphalt surfacing projects across the civil works market, based out of our Brendale office. You will be responsible for winning work, planning projects and ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable execution.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, converting opportunities into a profitable pipeline.
• Prepare accurate project estimates and contribute to competitive tender submissions.
• Develop detailed delivery plans covering resources, materials, subcontractors and scheduling.
• Lead end‑to‑end project delivery, meeting financial, contractual, technical, environmental and customer requirements.
• Monitor cost performance, forecasting and margin management.
• Coordinate with internal production, scheduling and operations teams.
• Complete project close‑out activities, including documentation and invoicing.
• Champion a Zero Harm safety culture and ensure compliance with safety systems.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience in asphalt pavement and civil works projects.
• Certificate in Project Management and/or Civil Engineering (preferred).
• Proven experience in work winning, planning and delivery.
• Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
