Civil Engineer (Civil Infrastructure)
AECOM · Perth
Job description
About the role
AECOM is looking for a developing civil engineer to support the delivery of site infrastructure design packages across a range of projects. You will contribute to stormwater, earthworks and basic water/wastewater designs, coordinate with other disciplines and build strong technical fundamentals under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Perform specific, limited portions of broader civil/site infrastructure assignments under moderate supervision, to agreed budget and programme.
- Gather, interpret and correlate engineering data using established procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine design tasks involving calculations, modelling and relatively simple tests and checks.
- Support stormwater design (pit and pipe layouts, hydraulic checks, minor drainage), bulk earthworks (grading plans, levels coordination, basic cut/fill inputs), basic water and wastewater infrastructure (reticulation layouts, tie-ins, design checks) and WSUD concept layouts where required.
- Identify discrepancies in calculations, drawings or models and escalate early, proposing practical approaches to new problems.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders on interfaces such as services coordination, site constraints and constructability.
- Provide day-to-day support and informal guidance to graduates and entry-level engineers.
Required profile
- 2-5 years' post-graduate experience in civil/site infrastructure design.
- Exposure to Austroads and local council/authority requirements, or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Developing competency in stormwater (pit and pipe) and familiarity with earthworks and basic water/wastewater design.
- Interest in WSUD principles is a plus; exposure to Department of Defence projects is highly regarded but not essential.
- Process-driven, detail-oriented, collaborative and comfortable in multidisciplinary teams.
What we offer
- Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, job-sharing and hybrid work options.
- Up to 6 extra weeks of annual leave per year and the option to swap public holidays.
- Learning and growth: lunch and learns, professional development courses, financial study assistance, 5 days of paid study leave and global career opportunities.
