Civil Construction Trainee (Certificate III)

About the role

Moyne Shire Council, through its partner Westvic Staffing Solutions, is recruiting a full-time Civil Construction Trainee (Certificate III in Civil Construction) to help run the council's road, street and construction maintenance programs. The role follows a 9-day fortnight roster of 76 hours, reporting to the Works Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant safely and efficiently on construction and maintenance jobs
• Maintain and monitor traffic control and safety signage on site
• Carry out maintenance using techniques, equipment, tools and materials as instructed
• Keep work sites safe and tidy at all times
• Complete daily timesheets and other required documentation
• Promote the council's products and services in the marketplace

Required profile

• Victorian driver's licence (essential); medium rigid endorsement desirable
• Employee Working with Children's Check (valid for 5 years)
• Basic written and verbal skills
• Desirable: basic knowledge of road maintenance and/or construction
• Excellent time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and follow supervision

Required skills

• Sound working knowledge of operating, maintaining and using plant safely
• Knowledge of safety equipment placement on work sites
• Ability to work in traffic and with the public courteously
• Ability to work unsupervised and keep accurate site records
