Chief Tourism Operations Officer

About the role

The Chief Tourism Operations Officer will lead a diverse portfolio of tourism, hospitality, retail, events and visitor services across three UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites. Reporting to senior leadership, the role balances commercial performance with the preservation of heritage values.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies to optimise revenue and visitor yield across all sites.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of tourism, hospitality, retail, events and visitor services.
• Ensure financial sustainability while protecting heritage and conservation objectives.
• Build organisational capability and lead cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality visitor experiences.
• Collaborate with government, community and industry partners to promote the sites internationally.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in tourism, events or hospitality sectors.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of revenue growth.
• Ability to align business objectives with heritage conservation priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
