Chief Operating Officer (COO)

About the role

QRIDA is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to help shape the strategic direction of Queensland’s leading rural and regional development authority. Reporting to the CEO and advising the Board, the COO will drive governance, corporate services and farm debt programmes that support producers during disaster events and improve long‑term viability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring enterprise‑wide alignment with QRIDA’s mission.
• Advise the CEO and Board on governance, compliance, corporate planning and performance, including preparation of submissions and secretariat activities.
• Oversee the Farm Debt Services function, managing compliance with the Farm Business Debt Mediation Act 2017 and the Farm Debt Restructure Office.
• Establish and maintain internal and external audit processes and corporate secretariat arrangements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver targeted financial assistance for disaster relief, drought response and farm productivity initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in governance, corporate services or financial management, preferably within a government or agricultural context.
• Proven ability to influence Board decisions and work collaboratively across senior leadership.
• Strong stakeholder focus with experience supporting rural or regional communities.
