Chief Medical Officer – Clinical Leadership for Rural & Urban Networks

About the role

Ochre Health, a leading provider of primary‑care services across rural, regional and urban Australia, is seeking a Chief Medical Officer to shape clinical strategy for a network of over 70 medical centres and urgent‑care clinics. This senior role offers the chance to influence governance, innovation and workforce outcomes at both executive and board level.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and act as the primary medical voice to the executive team and board.
• Lead and strengthen clinical governance across a geographically diverse GP network.
• Support rural hospital service models, GP VMO engagement and supervision frameworks.
• Enhance GP onboarding, especially for doctors new to Australia or general practice.
• Drive doctor engagement, retention and ethical clinical performance.
• Contribute clinical insight to acquisitions, service innovation and future care models.
• Represent Ochre Health with doctors, government bodies, colleges, health services and industry organisations.

Required profile

• FRACGP and/or FACRRM qualification with extensive GP experience.
• Proven senior clinical leadership, preferably as a Rural Generalist, GP VMO, Clinical Director, Director of Medical Services or CMO.
• Strong understanding of rural and regional service delivery and geographically dispersed teams.
• Commercial judgement, ethical standards and a track record of measurable impact.
