Chef – Full‑time Café Kitchen Role

About the role

The Chef will work on‑site at Cortado Cafe in Lawson, NSW, preparing and delivering café‑style breakfast, lunch and baked items. This full‑time position focuses on maintaining high standards of taste, presentation and food safety while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook menu items for breakfast, lunch and baked goods, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
• Manage daily kitchen operations including stock rotation, inventory control, ordering and waste reduction.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen that complies with NSW food safety regulations.
• Assist with menu development, daily specials and cost management through portion control.
• Coordinate with front‑of‑house staff during busy periods to ensure smooth service.

Required profile

• Professional experience as a Chef or Cook in a café, restaurant or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards in NSW.
• Ability to manage prep, service and stock levels efficiently.
• Creative menu planning and development of dishes and baked items.
• Excellent time‑management, organization and teamwork skills.
• Reliability, professionalism and a customer‑focused mindset.
