Certification Lead Engineer - Unmanned Aerospace

About the role

Northrop Grumman Australia is looking for a Certification Lead Engineer to lead the engineering certification activities supporting one of Australia's most advanced unmanned aerospace capabilities. The role leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for airworthiness, certification, system safety and design assurance activities, working closely with Defence and industry stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and effective delivery of design changes, repairs and engineering solutions. It is a genuine leadership role with 4 direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineering specialists, with 4 direct reports, and develop a high-performing team.
• Manage airworthiness, certification, system safety and design assurance activities.
• Work with Defence and industry stakeholders on design changes, repairs and engineering solutions.
• Travel about 10% of the time.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship is required; candidates must be able to achieve a TSPV security clearance (existing TSPV, Baseline or NV1/NV2 clearance highly regarded).
• Engineering degree and significant Defence or aerospace experience.
• Proven leadership of technical or engineering teams.
• Experience in aviation certification, modification and repair activities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Relocation assistance may be available.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of airworthiness and system safety principles.
• Working knowledge of DASR requirements.
