Category Specialist - Logistics

About the role

The company, a leader in industrial manufacturing in Western Australia, is seeking a Logistics Category Specialist to develop and execute category strategies for rail, ocean and intermodal freight. The role will support multiple business groups, manage supplier relationships and drive cost efficiencies across local and international movements.

Key responsibilities

• Support business units in all Logistics Procurement functions, including rail, ocean and intermodal freight.
• Manage supplier performance, contracting, and resolve escalations related to suppliers or payments.
• Ensure compliance with Procurement SOPs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead projects that enhance the function, working with senior stakeholders on system and process design, change requests and value‑add initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for data‑driven analytics, user education and cost optimisation, especially for Dangerous Goods commodities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Logistics Procurement or Category Management within Heavy Equipment or Oil & Gas sectors, with measurable cost‑management achievements.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and analytical abilities, capable of presenting business cases and risk‑management strategies to senior leadership.
• Self‑driven, leadership mindset, sense of urgency and ability to work in lean environments.
