Casual Security Officer - Research Centre, Bundoora

About the role

MSS Security, one of Australia's leading security companies, is looking for a casual security officer for its research centre in Bundoora. The position is a Roving Security Officer role on a 24/7 rotational roster, paid at Level 3 under the Security Victorian EA.

Key responsibilities

• Support compliance with biosecurity, health and safety protocols within the research centre.
• Carry out full site patrols, including internal and external areas, car parks and Controlled Environment Rooms.
• Perform basic control room duties such as access control via the Honeywell EBI Security System, operating the intercom and answering calls.
• Manage access for authorised facility users and issue visitor and contractor passes in line with security protocols.
• Provide reception support, including relieving the receptionist during lunch breaks, answering calls and helping facility users and visitors.

Required profile

• Full Australian working rights.
• A valid Victorian Security License; a Control Room License is preferred but not essential.
• First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain them.
• Flexibility to work across a 24-hour rotating roster, including weekends.
• Physical ability to patrol the site, involving up to one hour of sustained walking, and to patrol independently at night after training.
• Willingness to complete online inductions, including SSBA training and other research centre inductions.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to operate the Honeywell EBI Security System and intercom.
