Casual Qualified Locomotive Driver - Muswellbrook

About the role

One Rail Australia is seeking casual qualified locomotive drivers for its Muswellbrook depot. The main purpose of the role is to operate locomotives and give operational support so that freight trains run safely and efficiently. You will be part of the train crew servicing the Hunter Valley coal operations, working on highly advanced locomotives and rolling stock. The operation runs 24/7, so availability for shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays is required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate locomotives safely and efficiently
• Shunt at yards, depots and sidings and examine trains, including brake and continuity tests
• Prepare, stable, turn and assemble locomotives
• Carry out roll-by inspections
• Correct and reset minor on-road faults; diagnose major faults and liaise with specialists
• Use communications equipment correctly and prepare train-operation documentation
• Drive motor vehicles

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Train Driving
• Recent practical experience on diesel locomotives
• Basic working knowledge of safe-working procedures in a railway environment
• Current unrestricted motor vehicle driver's licence
• Current NSW Safeworking qualification
• Qualification in Train Orders for the network (desirable)
• Availability for shifts across the week, weekends and public holidays
