Casual Dental Assistant - Herston Campus

About the role

The University of Queensland's School of Dentistry is seeking expressions of interest from qualified dental assistants for a casual position at its student-led Dental Clinic, based at the Oral Health Centre on the Herston campus. The role supports students and clinical staff in a teaching and treatment environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support clinical operations so that teaching and treatment run smoothly and effectively.
• Set up, clean, sterilise and store dental instruments and equipment in line with infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate clinic records and uphold professional presentation standards.
• Book, receive and prepare patients for treatment under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent qualification) and hands-on experience as a chairside Dental Assistant.
• A Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Radiography stream) is desirable.
• At least 1-2 years' experience assisting during general and/or specialty dental procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and team members.
• Proactive attitude toward learning new skills, techniques and technologies, open to ongoing training.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of $43.79 to $48.20 plus 11.5% superannuation (HEW Level 3).
• Work alongside the School of Dentistry's academic staff and students.
