Casual Cleaner

About the role

The Shire of Menzies is looking for a casual Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of its buildings, properties and facilities, including public toilets, cabins, the camp kitchen and ablution blocks at the caravan park. The role keeps the townsite safe, hygienic and welcoming for staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Clean Shire buildings, properties and facilities according to established schedules and standards
• Maintain the cleaner's supply room and equipment storage, and record cleaning chemicals in the chemical register
• Monitor supplies and order cleaning, hygiene and consumable products as needed
• Report damage or maintenance needs to the Community Development Manager
• Assist with setting up and packing down special events, and help Community Resource Centre staff with operational tasks
• Provide courier services using Shire vehicles and assist with watering plants and gardens where required

Required profile

• Reliable, motivated person with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential
• Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules
• Working knowledge of work, health and safety requirements
• Current satisfactory National Police Clearance and medical clearance appropriate to the role

• Operating cleaning equipment safely and competently
• Estimating and ordering cleaning materials
• Effective communication with the public and employees

What we offer

• Casual employment at $41-$44 per hour, depending on experience (includes 25% casual loading)
• Penalty rates for weekend work under the relevant Award
