Casual Academic – Spanish Program Semester 2, 2026

About the role

We are seeking a casual academic to deliver Spanish language courses for Semester 2 2026 at the School of Humanities, University of Adelaide. The role involves teaching face‑to‑face seminars and tutorials and supporting students through assessment and feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate face‑to‑face seminars and/or tutorials for beginner to upper‑intermediate Spanish courses.
• Prepare and adapt teaching materials and upload learning resources to the Canvas Learning Management System.
• Grade student assignments and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignment submissions and grades.

Required profile

• Honours degree or higher in Spanish, Linguistics, Language Education or a closely related field.
• Native or near‑native command of Spanish.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Spanish as a second language (CEFR levels A1‑B2).
• High‑level teaching skills with a reflective approach to language instruction.
• Knowledge of contemporary teaching, learning and assessment principles for language learning.
• Fluency in English.
• Desirable: enrolment in or completion of a postgraduate degree in Spanish/Latin American Studies, Linguistics or Language Education, and experience in a tertiary education context.
