Career Medical Officer – Emergency Medicine & Anaesthesia

About the role

The Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is seeking experienced doctors to join as Career Medical Officers in Emergency Medicine and Anaesthesia. This role offers broad clinical exposure in a modern 99‑bed rural referral setting, supporting a population of over 55,000.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage a wide range of emergency presentations, coordinating patient assessment, investigation and treatment.
• Work collaboratively with Consultant Emergency Physicians and Anaesthetists, supporting patient flow and safe clinical disposition.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff and contribute to clinical education, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Required profile

• General Registration with AHPRA or eligibility for registration in Australia.
• Minimum three years postgraduate medical experience with relevant clinical training.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Emergency Medicine experience (or willingness to develop under Consultant FACEM support).
• Anaesthesia experience for the Anaesthesia position.
• Commitment to continuing professional development, clinical governance and patient safety.
