Capability Analyst – Fundamental Inputs for Defence Projects

About the role

The Capability Analyst will support the Army Headquarters G8-Systems and Integration team in delivering Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC) outcomes for the LAND 6504 Medium Range Ground Based Air Defence programme. Reporting to the Staff Officer Grade Two Air Missile Defence, the analyst will coordinate with Army and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive capability submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage FIC requirements, artefacts, and integration plans to support the acquisition business case.
• Develop FIC assessment, management, assurance, and transition documentation, including executive briefs and decision‑support products.
• Maintain the LAND 6504 FIC baseline, ensuring requirements are costed, phased, and aligned with project schedules.
• Lead governance activities, preparing papers, agendas, and tracking actions for capability working groups.
• Provide advice on FIC risks, issues, opportunities, and support risk mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum NV1 security clearance (NV2 preferred) and ability to obtain NV2.
• At least 6 years of experience, preferably within Defence acquisition projects.
• Willingness to work onsite at Brindabella Business Park five days a week.
• Demonstrated experience in complex acquisition projects and stakeholder coordination.
