About the role
This is a pivotal opportunity to lead Hanwha Systems’ strategic expansion within the Australian defence market. As a Business Development Manager you will own the end‑to‑end business lifecycle—from identifying high‑value pipelines to closing mission‑critical deals. You will drive growth across C4I/C5I systems, tactical communication, maritime platforms, unmanned systems (USV/UUV) and MUM‑T while engaging senior government and industry stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee Australian business opportunities, drive LAND program initiatives including LAND 4140, and craft market‑specific business strategies.
- Establish and sustain relationships with government officials, policymakers and defence enterprises; conduct high‑level discussions and map stakeholder networks.
- Monitor, analyse and interpret legislation, regulations and policy documents; provide strategic insights on regulatory impacts and recommend risk mitigation.
- Develop and implement government engagement strategies; collaborate with leadership to shape policy‑driven business plans and integrated go‑to‑market approaches.
- Lead pre‑tender advocacy, lobbying and negotiation to secure defence procurement opportunities.
- Deliver regular market intelligence reports, competitor analyses and compile briefing materials such as testimonies, factsheets and policy assessments for executives.
Required profile
- 10+ years of experience in Business Development, Key Account Management or Government Relations.
- Experience with, or understanding of, the LAND 4140 program (advantageous).
- Strong understanding of the Australian defence market and its regulatory environment.
- Proven ability to engage with government stakeholders and senior decision‑makers.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Ability to interpret policy and translate it into actionable business strategies.
