Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer

About the role

The Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer provides accurate and timely finance administration support to help Gellung Warl operate effectively and achieve its Treaty‑related priorities. This part‑time position works within a culturally sensitive environment, ensuring financial processes align with the organisation’s values and statutory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
• Administer payroll for staff, including calculations, deductions, and compliance with Australian payroll legislation.
• Perform account reconciliations and general ledger support to maintain financial integrity.
• Maintain the asset register and oversee regular updates.
• Prepare and lodge regulatory reports and statutory filings.
• Provide routine financial administration, ensuring records are reliable and in line with established procedures.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully in a complex, culturally sensitive setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial processing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building constructive relationships with colleagues, Traditional Owners, communities, and external service providers.
• Experience in bookkeeping and payroll within an Australian context.
