Barista / Café Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a friendly and capable Barista/Café Assistant to join the new 1903 Café at RAA in Adelaide city centre. This is a full‑time, two‑year position where you will be the face of the café, preparing coffee, serving food and ensuring a welcoming experience for members, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high‑quality coffee and hot drinks to order.
• Provide warm, attentive service to RAA members, staff and visitors.
• Accurately prepare and present food items, maintaining high presentation standards.
• Support internal catering set‑up and delivery.
• Follow daily job cards to keep café operations running smoothly.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with RAA’s Food Safety Program.
• Collaborate with kitchen and broader café team, identifying and completing tasks proactively.

Required profile

• Proven barista experience with consistent coffee‑making skills.
• Current or willingness to obtain a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Experience in a café, hospitality or customer‑service environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Customer‑first mindset with excellent communication.
• Ability to stay calm, organised and focused during busy periods.
• Flexible availability, including early‑morning starts.

Required skills

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• First Aid Certificate.
• Basic food preparation.
• Allergen management knowledge.
