Barge Master

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Barge Master to lead the safe and efficient operation of the Beverley jack‑up barge in Perth, supporting critical water infrastructure projects across Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Hold ultimate responsibility for crew and vessel safety.
• Implement, maintain and continuously improve the vessel Safety Management System (SMS) and environmental policy.
• Approve risk assessments, enforce permit‑to‑work processes and oversee safe mooring, unmooring and port operations.
• Lead inductions, drills, competency checks and emergency response actions, including muster and lifesaving equipment management.
• Maintain SMS records, report to shore management and act as the primary marine liaison with ACCIONA, clients and service providers.

Required profile

• Relevant high‑risk work licences (rigging/dogging, scaffolding, electrical) as required by State/Territory WHS laws.
• 2–3 campaigns of experience on a jack‑up barge in an Assistant Barge Master or equivalent role.
• Familiarity with vessel SMS (RAV‑BEV‑SMS‑000) and associated safe operating procedures.
• STCW Basic Safety Training (PSSR, PST, FPFFGMDSS A3) and ability to obtain an ECDIS endorsement if fitted.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Ability to obtain a Fit for Work medical clearance and a National Crime Check.

Required skills

• High‑risk work licences (rigging/dogging, scaffolding, electrical).
• Jack‑up barge operational experience (2–3 campaigns as Assistant Barge Master).
• Vessel SMS (RAV‑BEV‑SMS‑000) procedures knowledge.
• STCW Basic Safety Training (PSSR, PST, FPFFGMDSS A3).
• ECDIS endorsement (if fitted).
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
