Aviation Safety Specialist

About the role

Northrop Grumman Australia is looking for an Aviation Safety Specialist to join its Mission Assurance team and support the Aviation Safety Management System (AvSMS). The role ensures compliance, manages risk and drives continuous improvement across complex aviation programs supporting Defence capabilities. It is based in Australia, requires Australian citizenship and an AGSVA NV1 security clearance, and involves travel about 10% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the AvSMS
• Conduct aviation safety audits, investigations and assurance activities
• Monitor regulatory compliance across Defence and aviation programs
• Analyse safety data, identify risks and report on safety performance
• Facilitate safety meetings, training and stakeholder engagement
• Promote a strong safety culture that supports mission success

Required profile

• Experience in an aviation safety role within a regulated aviation environment
• Knowledge of CASA, DASR, EASA, EMAR or similar aviation regulatory frameworks
• Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
• Strong communication, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience within Defence, aerospace or contract support environments
• Qualifications in aviation maintenance, engineering, safety management, auditing or incident investigation (highly regarded)
• Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA NV1 security clearance
