Audit Program Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit Program Lead to drive and continuously improve South East Water’s audit and assurance programme. In this senior position you will lead a risk‑based audit function that provides meaningful insights to management, executives and the Board while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain a risk‑based audit programme aligned with organisational priorities.
• Oversee the full audit lifecycle – planning, execution, reporting and follow‑up of actions.
• Manage internal audit resources and coordinate external audit providers.
• Conduct internal audits as required to support business needs.
• Coordinate reporting and attestation obligations under the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal audit, assurance, risk or governance within large, complex or regulated organisations.
• Strong technical knowledge of ISO management system standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37301, ISO 31000, ISO 27001, ISO 55000, HACCP).
• Experience leading audits against ISO‑based systems and internal audit standards.
• Ability to prepare and present high‑quality reports to executive and board‑level stakeholders.
• Tertiary qualification in accounting, auditing, risk, business or governance and relevant professional certification (CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.).
