About the role

The School of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW is seeking an Associate Professor in Systems. This senior academic position combines high‑impact research with teaching excellence in modern computing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a world‑class research programme in operating systems, distributed systems, systems security and systems for machine learning.
• Secure competitive research funding and manage research projects.
• Supervise higher degree research students to successful completion.
• Deliver high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and contribute to curriculum design.
• Engage with industry partners and contribute to the School’s strategic direction and governance.

Required profile

• Established academic with a strong, sustained record of high‑impact research in modern computing systems.
• National or international reputation in the field.
• Proven ability to obtain research funding and lead research teams.
• Experience in supervising graduate students and delivering university‑level teaching.
• Demonstrated leadership within the discipline and collaborative mindset.
