Associate, Operational Risk – Procurement, Property, Transformation & GCC

About the role

The Associate, Operational Risk will provide second‑line oversight of non‑financial and operational risks across ANZ’s Group Operations functions, including Procurement, Property, Transformation and the Global Customer Centre (GCC). Reporting to the Senior Manager – Risk for Operations, the role supports risk analysis, control reviews and governance reporting to help identify emerging risks and control gaps.

Key responsibilities

• Support the review of risk assessments for Group Procurement, Property, Transformation and GCC, coordinating inputs and flagging gaps for escalation.
• Assist with control reviews by gathering evidence, documenting observations and evaluating design and operating effectiveness.
• Maintain portfolio trackers and registers with version control and evidence standards.
• Prepare risk reporting packs and materials for governance forums, ensuring accuracy and traceability to source evidence.
• Facilitate consistent application of risk frameworks, policies and standards through documentation and quality checks of first‑line outputs.
• Collate themes, metrics and key messages for senior reporting cycles and provide insights to the Senior Manager.
• Coordinate updates and deliverables across matrix reporting lines, escalating conflicts early and documenting decisions.
• Support audit, assurance and regulatory engagements by assembling evidence, tracking actions and maintaining audit trails.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a second‑line risk function and provide challenge to first‑line activities.
• Strong analytical, coordination and documentation skills.
• Experience in preparing risk reports and maintaining governance artefacts.
• Comfort working across multiple locations (Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane) and within matrix organisations.
