Associate Lawyer – Litigation (Insurance & Construction)

About the role

Sparke Helmore is seeking an Associate Lawyer to join its Insurance & Construction Litigation team in Brisbane. You will work alongside senior partners and experienced litigators on high‑value, complex disputes for blue‑chip clients across construction and insurance sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑end contract and risk‑management advice to construction clients.
• Manage back‑end disputes including payment claims, adjudications, contract and defect claims.
• Handle insurance matters such as property, construction, professional indemnity, D&O and complex personal injury claims.
• Represent national and global insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, underwriting agencies and third‑party administrators.
• Collaborate with senior partners to develop case strategy and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• 1–5 years of post‑qualification experience in a reputable law firm.
• Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution, preferably within construction law or defendant insurance practice.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexibly and manage a varied caseload.
