Associate Director – Acquisition Finance (Sydney/Melbourne)

About the role

The Acquisition Finance team at ANZ delivers tailored acquisition financing solutions to corporate clients and private‑equity partners. As an Associate Director you will lead the end‑to‑end execution of transactions, work closely with relationship managers, risk partners and senior stakeholders, and help develop junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Execute acquisition finance transactions from origination to closing, including credit writing, financial modelling, due‑diligence assessment and loan documentation.
• Conduct timely credit reviews, risk grading and portfolio monitoring to maximise returns and minimise losses.
• Identify and address adverse trends or potential risk events, engaging risk early in the process.
• Collaborate with relationship managers and product partners to cross‑sell and retain existing clients.
• Manage facility terms, waivers and policy exceptions while ensuring compliance.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities to increase efficiency.
• Lead, motivate and develop junior staff in a high‑performance environment.

Required profile

• Significant experience in acquisition finance, corporate lending or loan syndications.
• Strong analytical and credit assessment capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex transactions and stakeholder relationships.
• Leadership experience with a focus on coaching junior team members.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
