Associate Dean, Innovation & Engagement (Associate Professor)

About the role

Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as Associate Dean, Innovation and Engagement (I&E) while holding an ongoing Associate Professor position. This senior role will shape the university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem across teaching, research, and industry collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Embed enterprise capability and industry collaboration throughout the School’s academic portfolio.
• Integrate Work‑Integrated Learning (WIL) into curriculum design, delivery, and assessment.
• Lead enterprise‑driven learning and innovation initiatives at domestic and global levels.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop learner‑powered industry innovation strategies.
• Advance commercialisation of research, industry‑focused educational products, and student‑staff ventures.
• Champion innovation and engagement in line with the university’s strategic plan, Ad Astra.

Required profile

• Proven senior academic leadership experience in a complex tertiary environment.
• Track record of shaping strategy, influencing decision‑making, and delivering organisational outcomes.
• Experience in fostering industry partnerships, entrepreneurship, and commercial impact.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other Associate Deans and senior leaders.
