Assistant Relationship Manager – Business Banking

About the role

As an Assistant Relationship Manager in Business Banking, you will support Relationship Managers in delivering value to business customers across Agri and Commercial channels in regional markets. You will help manage and grow a portfolio of business customers while adapting to the evolving banking landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Relationship Manager in managing customer relationships within the assigned portfolio tier.
• Respond to client queries promptly and professionally, adhering to service standards.
• Perform administrative tasks for the customer portfolio, ensuring documentation complies with Suncorp policies.
• Extract and analyse financial statements, cash‑flow forecasts and other complex financial reports to provide accurate assessments.
• Identify an acceptable level of lending risk in line with the Risk Appetite Statement and aim to maximise profit.
• Support and demonstrate a risk‑management culture aligned with Suncorp’s values.
• Proactively identify and escalate risks and issues related to responsibilities.
• Comply with the complaint‑resolution process to maintain high service standards and mitigate further risk.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and collaborate in a ‘one‑team’ approach to meet customer and business needs.
• Contribute to a positive Safety and Wellbeing culture.

Required profile

• Ability to extract and analyse financial statements and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Understanding of lending risk and adherence to the Risk Appetite Statement.
• Commitment to risk‑management and compliance processes.
• Proactive approach to identifying and escalating risks.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and stakeholder relationship building.
