Assistant Manager

About the role

The Assistant Manager will support the Publican in daily operations at the Forest Hotel in Frenchs Forest, NSW. This full‑time, on‑site role involves overseeing the bar, bistro and gaming areas, ensuring high‑quality guest service and a safe, inclusive environment for guests and team members.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise bar, bistro and gaming areas, maintaining consistent service standards.
• Lead, coach and schedule team members across shifts.
• Manage floor operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with staffing, rostering and recruitment activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, licensing and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements.
• Handle customer inquiries, feedback and conflict resolution.
• Support stock control, cash handling and basic reporting processes.
• Contribute to promotions, events and initiatives that drive revenue and guest engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hospitality or venue operations, preferably in pubs, bars or hotels, with supervisory or team‑leader responsibilities.
• Strong people‑leadership abilities, capable of motivating and coaching diverse teams.
• Excellent customer‑service and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Solid understanding of operational processes such as cash handling, stock control and opening/closing routines.
• Knowledge of RSA, health‑and‑safety and licensing regulations (current RSA certification or willingness to obtain).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organisational and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Desirable: experience with hospitality POS systems, basic reporting and event coordination; hospitality qualification or equivalent experience.
