Assistant Manager – Hospitality

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to keep the Mowbray Hotel buzzing and loved by the local community. You will support the Publican in running the venue smoothly, safely and with a great vibe while developing your own hospitality leadership skills.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with regulars so they feel part of the team.
• Assist the Publican in day‑to‑day operations, ensuring safety and a welcoming atmosphere.
• Lead and mentor a team of hospitality staff, handling issues before they become problems.
• Maintain energy, service standards and a positive attitude on every shift.
• Perform manual handling tasks such as moving stock, kegs and deliveries.

Required profile

• Experience working in a bar, bistro or gaming area, with some supervisory responsibilities.
• Learned from strong managers and ready to step up to a leadership role.
• Confident, personable and able to represent the venue when the manager is away.
• Current RSA and RSG certifications as required by state regulations.
• Physically capable of safe manual handling and lifting duties.

Required skills

• RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification.
• RSG (Responsible Service of Gambling) certification.
• Manual handling and lifting proficiency.
