Assistant Accountant

About the role

McCormack is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its Finance Team in Melbourne. Reporting to the CFO, you will support month‑end, reporting and compliance activities while maintaining accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accounting support to the Financial Accountant and other finance team members.
• Manage end‑to‑end accounts payable and payroll functions across the organisation.
• Reconcile supplier accounts, process invoices, communicate with suppliers and forecast payments.
• Assist with general administrative tasks and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance or a related discipline (Diploma, Bachelor or equivalent).
• 3+ years experience in bookkeeping or general accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously.
• Proven track record of meeting recurring deadlines such as payroll runs, BAS and month‑end/year‑end reporting.
• Mature professional interpersonal skills and sound judgement handling confidential information.
