Assistant Accountant – Accounts Receivable

About the role

Join Mazda Australia as an Assistant Accountant – Accounts Receivable and support the financial health of the business through effective debtor management, accurate reconciliations and timely processing of financial transactions. You will work closely with the Management Accountant and the wider Finance team to maintain strong controls and deliver excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Process and allocate daily debtor receipts and maintain accurate debtor records.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Manage debtor accounts, including setup, statement distribution, collections and query resolution.
• Process journals, invoices, credit notes and other accounting transactions.
• Assist with month‑end activities such as balance‑sheet reconciliations and general‑ledger maintenance.
• Record and reconcile vehicle sales transactions, including employee sales, retail sales and dealer releases.
• Support accurate financial reporting through timely reconciliations and data integrity.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of AR processes, systems and procedures.
• Provide ad‑hoc reporting and financial support to Finance leadership as required.

Required profile

• Completed Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounts receivable, reconciliations and financial transaction processing.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer‑focused approach with the ability to build positive working relationships.
• Effective planning and prioritisation skills to manage competing deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
