Assessment and Liaison Support Worker

About the role

Homelessness Connect, part of Uniting Communities, provides telephone-based support services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Assessment and Liaison Support Worker is a casual role in a 24/7 operation, covering morning, afternoon, overnight and weekend shifts. The position is based at the Adelaide head office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a trauma-informed intake and assessment of clients presenting with a situation.
• Refer clients to appropriate specialist homelessness service providers and other external agencies.
• Act as an advocate when necessary to support clients.
• Assist clients in engaging with essential services.
• Facilitate access to crisis shelter accommodation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in the Community Services sector.
• Diploma-level qualification or equivalent.
• Knowledge of the homelessness sector, domestic violence awareness and an understanding of youth culture.
• Ability to work across a range of shifts, including nights and weekends.

Required skills

• Data entry proficiency.
• Computer skills.
• Effective time management.
