Aquatic Education Instructor

About the role

Join Banyule Leisure’s aquatic team to teach swimming, water safety and survival skills to community members of all ages. This part‑time, permanent position offers flexible term‑by‑term rosters and access to gym facilities while making a meaningful impact on water confidence and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver swimming, water safety, survival skills, rescue techniques and stroke development programmes across Banyule Leisure facilities.
• Supervise classes to ensure a child‑safe environment and participant wellbeing.
• Assess participants’ ability levels and adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs.
• Maintain records, equipment, and ensure all training and qualification requirements are met.
• Build positive relationships with participants and families.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, community‑focused attitude with a passion for teaching water confidence.
• Strong communication and class‑management abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt lessons for different ages and abilities.
• Commitment to Banyule Leisure’s values and a child‑safe learning environment.

Required skills

• Current CPR certificate (essential).
• Swim and Water Safety Teacher Qualification (essential).
• Level 2 First Aid (Apply First Aid) certification (essential).
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and pre‑employment medical clearance.
