APAC Tax Principal

About the role

Airbnb is seeking a senior tax professional to lead its Asia‑Pacific tax function. Based in Singapore (with the possibility of Australia for an exceptional candidate), the APAC Tax Principal will own tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions and support the company’s growth ambitions in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Manage local, country and regional tax negotiations, audits and compliance with authorities such as the Australian Taxation Office and South Korean National Tax Service.
• Partner with APAC Finance, Legal, Policy and external advisers to implement tax strategies and minimise liabilities.
• Monitor and analyse tax regulatory developments, communicate impacts and provide documented technical advice.
• Support new business initiatives, including M&A, by delivering tax due‑diligence and integration input.
• Lead special projects and act as the primary tax point of contact for assigned countries (e.g., Australia, South Korea, and other APAC geographies).

Required profile

• 12+ years of direct and indirect tax experience, primarily in a Big 4 accounting or law‑firm environment.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex multi‑jurisdictional tax matters and interact with senior internal stakeholders.
• Strong business judgment and ability to work collaboratively across finance, legal, policy and operations.
