Animal Attendant

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Animal Attendant to join Pawtails Rural Retreat, a boarding facility for dogs and cats located near Laggan, NSW. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day care of all animals staying at the retreat and will support the managing director in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve appropriate feed and fresh water for dogs and cats.
• Administer prescribed medication and treat minor injuries.
• Handle dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes and temperaments safely.
• Clean and disinfect kennels, play areas and common spaces thoroughly.
• Monitor animals for signs of illness or abnormal behaviour and record observations.
• Maintain accurate animal care records and assist with admissions and departures.
• Provide basic grooming such as brushing and nail trimming.
• Transport animals to and from locations across Goulburn, the Southern Highlands and Sydney.
• Support reception duties, including greeting owners and handling enquiries.

Required profile

• Certificate in Animal Studies or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to lift up to 15 kg.
• Strong initiative, enthusiasm and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, reliable attitude.
• Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and varied shift patterns.
