Android Developer – Hybrid, Sydney

About the role

CommBox, Australia’s leading interactive technology company, is expanding its software capabilities and is looking for an Android Developer to help shape the next generation of touchscreen products used by schools, businesses and government organisations worldwide. You will design, build and maintain Android applications that power thousands of interactive displays and connected devices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications and platform features using modern development practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, QA and Engineering teams to deliver high‑quality user experiences.
• Integrate applications with cloud services, APIs and third‑party platforms.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve software issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Optimise application performance, security and reliability.
• Support software releases, testing and deployment activities.
• Stay current with emerging Android technologies and frameworks.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in Android application development.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Experience with Jetpack libraries and modern Android architecture patterns.
• Understanding of REST APIs and cloud‑connected applications.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Knowledge of software testing and debugging methodologies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
