Alternate Underground Manager – Mining Operations

About the role

As the Alternate Underground Manager you will lead the restart and ramp‑up of the underground mine at the Mount Marion operation, guiding it to steady‑state production. Reporting to the Underground Manager, you will be responsible for statutory compliance, contractor management and delivering safe, efficient and sustainable underground operations.

Key responsibilities

• Fulfil statutory duties as the Alternate Underground Mine Manager.
• Manage day‑to‑day activities of underground service contractors.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop operational readiness for steady‑state production.
• Execute underground mine physical, cost and infrastructure plans and schedules safely.
• Supervise short‑term mine planning, scheduling, geotechnical, geological and survey functions.
• Work with corporate commercial and technical teams on contracting strategy and mine plans.
• Build positive relationships with contractors to achieve project objectives.
• Champion a safety‑first culture and ensure compliance with all relevant safety policies and regulations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Western Australia First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
• Extensive experience in underground mining, preferably large‑scale mechanised long‑hole stoping with paste‑fill operations.
• Proven track record of ramping up underground projects and establishing onsite teams and processes.
• Strong contractor management, performance monitoring and compliance experience.
• Demonstrated leadership of operational and technical teams.
• Familiarity with mining software and related technologies.
• Experience holding statutory Underground Manager responsibilities.
